Hi all. Thanks for letting me into the group. Happy to say I finally picked up my first Dan Wesson. A very lightly used early service type Model 14, 4". I've always been a revolver guy (mostly pre-model # Smiths) but always had a fascination for DW. Missed them in Monson when I lived in MA, but I have been to the new facility they went into in Norwich, NY. Unfortunately that was just as they were being acquired by CZ, so I didn't find much interest from anyone there wanting to talk about their revolvers.

So I could never afford the pistol packs I would see come up once in a while, but I recently found this very tempting Mod 14 at a gun show that was easier on my wallet. I buy to shoot, not for the safe, so it was perfect for me. I spend a lot of time at the range since I'm a RSO.

Question for the group: since this Mod 14 came with nothing, what should I plan on adding for tools and add-ons besides the obvious barrel wrench and gap gauge? I know about EWK Arms. Any other good sources? Also, this is a low serial number 89** . Does anyone have info on whether these early service types ever made it into service anywhere?

DW Mod 14, NRA RSO

Welcome to the forum from PA! You have the basic necessity tools to shoot, a small set of allens may be the only other 'need'.

EWK is the place for tools/parts Eric is a great guy to deal with.

Numerich has parts also.

Welcome to the Forum!

They definitely did make it into service. There is a forum member who used one as his service revolver - I think in New York somewhere. He also told about shooting competitvely with it and how accurate it was. I think it was a model 11 though.
