Retiree living in North Georgia mountains. Married and dog owner/lover. Drive an older Miata. Loving life at 70.

Stopped by a small gun show today. Saw a Model 11 Dan Wesson 357 Mag. Had the 4 inch barrel with exposed nut and cylinder latch in front of the cylinder. Smooth one piece stock with no DW medallions, attached with a recessed hex screw. Seems this model was only made 1970 to 1971 and is called a Pork Chop?.  The SN was 4 digits.

I passed on the DW as it was not in very good condition and not knowing anything about it. Any in sight members have on this model is appreciated. Any suggestions on a DW revolver model, (38 Special, 357 Mag, 45) to look for is requested also. Thanks!

Welcome to DWF! That certainly sounds like a Model 11. If you are interested in buying a Dan Wesson revolver the very best introductory choice is a 15-2/715 with a 6" barrel assembly. Not "porkchop", adjustable rear sight, and a pretty good availability of grips, barrel assemblies, front sights, and support.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the dwffrom PA!  That sounds like model 11 to me.  Wish I could find one in decent shape around here, I don't yet have one of those in my collection.  The 'ugly nut' porkchop guns aren't for everybody, not long on looks but very accurate.

+ 1 on accuracy per Scorpio. They and the model 12 made Dan Wessons reputation. The model 11, being a fixed sight gun is going to have a most accurate distance and cartridge that will require a lot of shooting to determine. The model 12 will be adjustable for any distance and loading. Of course, the same criteria apply to the 14 and 15-2s. The large frame model 44 mag is maybe the most accurate. It took IHMSA by storm when introduced in 1980. JMHO.
