Until a week ago I never knew about the Dan Wesson name unless it had to do with a Model 1911.   Even that was just a "brand name" I heard about from various sources.   I was visiting my local gun shop in South Hadley, MA and saw a Dan Wesson Model D11 .38 revolver for sale, and when I read Monson Mass on the side of the frame, I had to have it.   I grew up in a town next to Monson, so it was pretty cool to see the name stamped on a gun.    As I'm a Springfield area native, I did what any good citizen would and made sure the first gun I ever bought was a Smith & Wesson.  I chose a S&W 9mm Model 469, made in early 80's.    I just got into guns this year mainly for target shooting and for collecting.  Â
The other guns I have are a Raven .25 from the 1970's, just for kicks, and a Model 1911 .45 from Auto Ordnance, brand new, in the WWII Parkerized finish with real wood grips. Â
I like the history associated with my guns, especially the ones made in the Springfield, Mass area including Monson, Palmer, and the Auto Ordnance made in Worcester. Â

Welcome to our little corner of the web. Sounds like you're well on your way to a very nice collection. You're going to love your Dan, and after shooting it you're going to want many more. It's a disease called DWAS. The "medication" is expensive and there is no cure.

Massachussetts sure does have a rich history in firearm production, I think it's a great idea to make a collection of neat stuff built around your state. In fact, I like that idea so much that I may just start doing the same.
Although Utah doesn't have quite as many companies to choose from, so maybe that'll make it easier to complete the collection.
