Was turned onto this forum by some folks on another site. I ran across a M44 with tools, and 4"/6" ported barrels(appear to be "power control"? from some preliminary searching) for what was apparently a steal of a price. I'm not quite sure what forum I should post the pics and ask about it's value, since I have no idea and gunbroker isn't helping me much.

Welcome aboard & congrats on your purchase!DWF Sign   Getting a new DW at a steal of a price sure makes that new gun purchase a whole lot more fun. 😀

Good Afternoon Machinisttx and welcome to the DWF Sign

You have certainly came to the right place for all things DW!  I would post your questions and pictures in the Revolver forum and we also have a forum specifically for pictures as well.

One piece of advice on the power control barrels.  Do not shoot lead bullets in them because it can lock on the barrel and shroud together and it's very difficult to get them separated. Unfortunately I know this first hand! Embarassed

Again Welcome

Jody, I was warned of that before buying the gun. Smile After seeing how close the fit is between the shroud and barrel(and result of the previous owner not cleaning carbon fouling as regularly as he should have), I see the reason why cast shouldn't be run through them. This is unfortunate, since i shoot cast bullets almost exclusively.

I'll head down to the revolver forum and post some pics. Laugh

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

Welcome TX

Give Jenny at Dan Wesson a call, she can set you up with a non ported barrel - it'll work just fine with your ported shroud.

I think you're on Arfcom? and TX hometown there?

Welcome to DWF, you're in the best DW place on the web. Not clear if you've bought yet, but a 4" M 44 is pretty cool, and with a 6" too, with tools.  I believe that would be worth $600-ish without much trouble

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
