New to Dan Wessons - recently picked up a 15-2

I'm having a weird issue though, hoping y'all can help out. In slow double action, the cylinder occasionally over-rotates while the cylinder stop is still recessed into the frame. I can replicate this fairly regularly, and I'm too scared to shoot this when I'm getting out-of-lock hammer strikes with dummy's.

I've done the average joe tune up, put in fresh springs from CZ, and verified proper functioning otherwise.

Please let me know if this is a known issue and/or what the fix is - happy to be a member!

Welcome to the forum from PA!!! I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will be along to help you figure this out. Definitely wouldn't shoot it.

Welcome to the DWF!  Sounds like a bolt (you call it cylinder stop) plunger spring problem if it's not engaging the cylinder when it should. Maybe crud, missing, or weak. I've also seen folks forget or lose the plunger.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Ron is probably right. The plunger spring is not in all spring kits . EBay will have them. If you PM me I will send you one . Give me a heads up if you PM me. Check if you  are missing the plunger too.

FYI, S&W calls it a cylinder stop. DW calls it a bolt. The little bump behind the cylinder on the sideplate is what we call the cylinder stop . It stops the cylinder from sliding of the crane when the cylinder is open. If your gun was made before 1986 the cylinder stop can be broken off the sideplate by pounding on the ejector rod to remove stuck cases . Support the cylinder if you try to eject stuck cases. If you have a knurled hammer tang your 15-2 was made after 1986. 715s don't have that problem. They have the redesigned stop since debuting in 1983.

Thanks for the assist folks (and very generous of you Ole Dog, thank you) - the CZ kit did in fact come with a new bolt spring and I've put it together according to factory manuals (good to know about the part nomenclature, always funny how different companies call the same parts different things)

Here's a video describing my issue: https://youtube.com/shorts/m1J6B54Hbl0

Plus some photos of the lockwork (she's a Monson s/n 127963): https://imgur.com/a/KE22ksN

Thank you!

I was able to reproduce part of that issue, although it took some trying and both hands. In all cases, after spinning the cylinder (out of battery) the hand would continue to rotate the cylinder and the bolt locked in the next cylinder notch.  It might still be the bolt but after looking at your video (thanks for that) and pictures, I think there may be some hand and ejector fit/ wear issue.  I'd like to see some pics of the wear on the ejector and face of the hand.
