I just picked up my first Dan Wesson last weekend at the gunshow!
ÂÂ
It is a beautiful 7445-VH4 445 Supermag.
ÂÂ
Came in original box with test fire case dated 2001. Had the Doorknob style barrel wrench and the owners manual, but no cylinder gap gauge (should it have come with one?).
ÂÂ
Hope to learn alot from this forum!

to the
. Nice 445 ,and you got it right first off by posting pics.

Yes you need a feeler gauge but any gauge will do, .006 or less. Lots of good folks here and plenty of info to boot.

OfflineWelcome to the forum. The lesser calibers came with a .006 feeler gauge. The SuperMags all came with a .002 gauge.
Personally I set all of my Dan's to .002. With my 2 Norwich guns that's easy, however, all my others are from Monson and Palmer. When setting these one has to make sure the gap is set at the tightest position on the cylinders. The fronts of these cylinders were not flat.
If yours is a Norwich gun setting the gap is a one-shot-deal.
Enjoy your new toy.

Yes, the box has the Norwich address and the barrel has the "Dan Wesson First Issue" surrounded by the laurel wreathe, which if I understand correctly all of the first batches of guns produced at the Norwich location was marked with this insignia
Serial no: Z00255
