Hi all. I've owned my model 15-2 with 6" VH barrel for almost 20 years. I dreamed of owning one since they were first introduce. I happen upon mine in a random pawn shop for $199. I do not know the history of this gun. It did show some signs of wear but not abuse. I've been consistently amazed with how much fun it is to shoot. This site has been a huge help in learning the ins and outs of my fine revolver. Thank you for your willingness to share your knowledge.

Part of my learning is understanding what tolerances are acceptable and when I should be concerned. For instance, I've read many post about cylinder timing and play and wonder how loose is acceptable and when is it a concern. My cylinder locks up before the hammer falls, but it has some cylinder rotation (maybe 1-2 mm). It's like the bolt is in position but a little thinner than the cylinder notch. I can hear the cylinder wiggle when I shake the gun when cocked. Does this sound "normal"? The gun seams to shoot fine despite the wiggle.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it shoots fine it probably is fine. Dans are locked up at 3 places. Bolt, dedent ball and front latch. Side to side play is therefore less important than end shake. That is the cylinder moving front and back when locked up. If you have end shack it can be cured with cylinder shims. All is easy to do with the forum help. Dans were designed to be user friendly and not need a gunsmith for most things other makes demand. Ie, barrel change, grip shape change and trigger job.

When setting the cylinder gap do not force the shim into the gap. That pushes the dedent ball back and makes the gap too small. Never over tighten anything snug barrel nut is enough. Ditto sideplate screws.

Part of the "cylinder wiggle heard" could also be the ammo rattling within the cylinder itself.
