OfflineHello, my name is Ed and I have been mining a lot of useful information here as a guest, since I bought my first Dan Wesson revolver a few weeks ago. Â A local shop had this new condition 15-2 Pistol Pac from an estate. Â Somehow it seems the original owner never even handled it. Â Accessories were tucked away neatly behind the foam and the gun and barrels looked untouched. Â It is a Monson frame with S/N 367xxx.
I have many S&W and Colt revolvers, plus a few Rugers, but never handled a Dan Wesson before. Â I was impressed with the fit and finish and amazed at the ingenuity of the barrel change and cylinder gap system. Â I liked it so much that I snapped up a second used frame from Gunbroker with the idea to keep the new frame set up for silhouettes with the 8" barrel, and play with the other barrels on the used frame at shorter ranges. Â Also a Monson frame, S/N 185xxx. Â I noticed it has a different rear sight from the later frame, and the trigger overtravel stop is different. Â On 367xxx the overtravel stop screw is on the frame; on 185xxx it is on the trigger.
ÂThe second frame is clean and looks good, but it arrived badly out of time. Â I was able to order a new factory hand from CZ and fitted it to solve the timing problem. Â I have seen a few comments here to the effect that fitting a hand on a DW is a simpler task than with other revolvers, and I did find that to be the case, but I guess that is a story for another time. Â I was glad to fix it myself because I am completely new to Dan Wessons, and I have no idea where to find a gunsmith to work on them.

OfflineHere are the two frames together, the new one from the pistol pack with the 8" barrel, and the used frame set up for shooting with a Pachmayr Presentation grip and the 4" barrel from the pistol pack. Â They are both really nice shooters. Â That zebra wood is so pretty I cringe a little taking it outside and shooting with it. Â May have to put on the walnut target grip that came with the used frame and save the zebra wood for photo shoots.
I could definitely see myself getting more Dan Wessons. Â Just need to let my credit card recover from buying that pistol pack.

. You will probably obtain more. If you feel inclined to adjust the trigger at all, Wolf spring kits have a couple to choose from and make a difference.
