I am a new member, so please bear with me. Â A friend has a DW 357 Magnum CTG that I want to buy at a fair price. Â I have been trying to gather information but have not been able to find much. Â I have learned a lot and will probably continue my interest in Dan Wesson revolvers. Â The DW Forum list of serial numbers does not have this one listed. Â I also have not been able to find the serial number. Â I have read about the Model 14's and 15's.
Here is what I have:
Dan Wesson 357 Magnum CTG. 4" barrel. Â Â
Model No 14-N  Serial No  21623  Manufactured in Monson MA
Your help will be greatly appreciated. Â

The serial number is on the left side of the frame, underneath the Crane. Open the Latch and rotate the cylinder out and you will see the numbers behind it.

 It has the short action hammer. Very quick hammer fall. The N stands for Nickel plated by the factory. It was manufactured around 1972. The value range would be 350 to 550 depending on condition. Nickel goes for a premium.Â

Thanks for the information. Â I think my post was a bit confusing. Â I do have the serial number: 21623. Â The info you guys gave me is great and will give me a good value range. Â I wonder if there is another source for info on the serial number? Â Thank you so much for your help.

That is a factory nickel model 14 in matte finish with the service grips. Â I have this exact gun and it is quite uncommon. Â I'd grab it if I were you. BTW welcome to the forum. Â Please tell us a bit more about your shooting interests.

Nope. All those manufacturing records were seized by the ATF when they went bankrupt. My 14-N is a 227xx.

I think 1973 is about right on this one
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
