I went to the largest gun show in the largest city..in our state. There were exactly 3 dan wessons there... my two... and my wifes one. How sad... and typical.

I took one DW to sell or trade.. I had about 5 folks ask what I had, but no-one was interested. I did find a Rossi lever-action .38/.357 at a table. The guy said he wanted $419 to which I replied that was a little high. I then asked if he would consider a trade. The gun I was trying to trade is a very minty 15-2VH6 with a fresh new hot blue on the shroud. He declined. Just as well, a best in class original for a italian 1800s knock-off... wasnt a great deal anyway.

Oh well.... soon... very soon... I shall a new pretty.

I went to the gun show in Montgomery today.   There was not one DW there.  I was really disappointed.  There were fewer tables and fewer lookers than usual.  I stayed for 3 hours, cruised all guns twice and went home.Mad

Sounds like you guys are experiencing the same thing I do here in Virginia.  Dan Wesson's are few and far between!

Yesterdays show in Denver was the worst I have seen yet... very few tables selling guns...no DW's in sight.  However the day was not a total loss Wink....

I've always wanted a HS derringer, and yesterday I found one for $175 out the door...  I'm going to put it in a nice little presentation case and give it to the wife in 2 weeks ( 25 years since the day we met).  She's been after me to build her a Pac of some type...

Image Enlarger

Serial number puts this one  pre 1967--older than me !!!

Now as far as getting good deals, i really did well on a few impulse knife buys--I didn't realize how good until I got home.

I picked up the 3 knives out of a box of "junk" knives for $5 each... Top to bottom--Kershaw Whirlwind, Buck 170, and a CRKT Fulcrum...

Image Enlarger

Roughly $130 worth of knives for $15 -- put me in a good mood.  TheCRKT Fulcrum is a nice blade with a nifty method of opening.  Check it out here...

The best buy of the day was a Kershaw 1050--the seller had it on the table for $30 and I got it for $25.... I had no idea it was worth around $150... I love my Kershaws so this was  real bonus for me.

Image Enlarger

Even the worst gun shows pay off once in a while...

I did see 3 DW's in a gun shop on the way home-- a 7445, a 40, and a 15-2.... All WAY overpriced... All in great condition, but still way overpriced.

That little derringer looks like it's in great shape. I've been wanting to grab one of those to add to my HS Pac. Just remove the bullets, move the patch & I think it would fit right in.Laugh

I want to find one with the "trigger" logo rollmarked on the barrel, as opposed to the ones that just have High Standard spelled out.

Mine is an early model -- it has an eagle on the side, the trigger logo came later on.

Pinetor, can't believe they didn't have any DWs! I was really hoping that I could pick up another DW for cheap at a show next month, but that's pretty discouraging. Have to say though, the last gun show I went to a couple months ago I didn't find much of anything that was interesting either, and most of everything was overpriced too.

Don't let that discourage you, persistance pays, gunshows are like a Bass pond.

umm i guess that guy with the 22 might have been me. Big Grin

regarding the other comments above, although dan wessons have their fans, witness this forum, they aren't that popular among the masses so i guess that explains why there aren't a bunch of them out there for sale.

trooper, you are right that DW's are underappreciated. I can usually buy very nice ones locally for $300 or less. For the quality and ease of repair, I find them to be a remarkable value at that price.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

SHOOT- another topic shows it sold pending $$$. As an FTF, it was a very nice price, the fees kind of added up, however.

Yes, Cool Pics soon, I just have to pick up the guns! Tomorrow I'm hopefully picking up a 14-2 from a guy on a local forum, and then Thursday hopefully the 15-2 that I ordered from gunbroker will be at my LGS. I'm excited to say the least!
