Does anybody carry there DW with a short (2" or 4") barrel for personal protection. I have been thinking about doing same and replacing my 9mm auto. I like the thought of a .357 better than the 9mm if you ever had to protect my family. My real question is about which holster to use, I don't have one for my DW 15-2 today but would like to get one to use, any suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help.

You can do a search for CCW holster on the forum.  I think we've had this discussion a few times.  The simply rugged sourdough is a popular choice.

I am a DW fan and have three of them, but for conceled carry I perfer a Ruger LRC in .357.  It is light enough to carry all day.  Any weapon that is at home because it is too much trouble to carry is usless.

Also if you are going to use a DW, go for a snubbie 14-2.  It clears the holster faster and less stuff to catch on clothing.

Less specific to DW's than carry holsters in general:

Choose IWB (Inside Waist Band) or OWB (Outside Waist Band). IWB is generally more concealable, OWB is generally more accessible. On an IWB, select a holster that has the belt attachments more widely spaced, if they are close together, the holster tends to "pivot" and your approach angle to the grip will vary. There are tuckable IWB's that allow you to tuck in a shirt for more concealability, but with more limited accessability.

I understand your desire for the increased capability of the .357 Magnum over 9 mm. I value the increased capacity of 15+1 of 9 mm without a reload over the 6 rounds of a revolver along with carrying speed strips or speedloaders, and if I choose to have an extra magazine as well, I'm at 30+1.

At any rate I got a chance to post a picture of the original Wonder Nine, S&W M-59, a great pistol.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Get the Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake with the IWB loops and you can carry either IWB or OWB.

My 14-2 snubbie carries very nicely in my Sourdough.

(note that I didn't get the IWB loops, but I converted the holster to IWB using springclips and chicago screws).
