Howdy, been awhile since I had anything to contribute. Love reading about everyone else's exploits. But here in a nutshell is something we older mature DW lovers are bound to or already have encountered. Had a young man who is really getting into firearms. He is 30, been into them for about 5 years now. I allowed him to see a couple of my Dan Wesson's. Mint model 15 and 44. Both pistol packs. His jaw dropped, I changed the barrel and grip configuration a couple of times on them. He was in love. Then I let him shoot a model 715 I use as a working gun.. That's when he became another lost soul. lol  He begged me to promise him that before I go into a nursing home or to that great gun shop in the sky. I will sell them to him. I said I had no plans for either for awhile yet. But watching him just stare and examine those guns reminded me of myself back in the 70's  when I held the first Dan Wesson I had ever seen. I was hooked. So old became new again.

I definitely know the feeling; it still strikes me when I haven't had a gander at one of my DWs in awhile. drool I'd be too antsy waiting for someone to pass before acquiring a pistol pac of my own, lol. Might just have to tell the lad to start putting some coin aside until he can purchase one.

I know the feeling. At age 62 I decided to exercise my 2cd Ammendment rights for the first time. I bought 7 or 8 necessary guns. Then I saw an unfired pistol pack at a local gun shop. $1300. I researched it and went back but it had sold for 900. I was hooked though. I found a nice one with 6H, 8H, and 12 H barrels. $1000. My wife thought I paid too much. The 12" was worth the 1000.  Not a pistol pack though. Well, I have lots of them now. My DWAS is in remission but it took over 100 guns and many more grips, BA's, parts, etc. I still buy guns but not many Dans right now. I still watch though.

Hey Ole Dog -

Out of curiosity, how many DWs do you own? Is there a specific number of frames and barrels you can reference? Also, how many pistol pacs? How many are safe queens compared to user/shooter guns?

I've been keeping an eye out for a blue 4V barrel. People are asking so much for them that I may as well go ahead and buy a whole 15-2 4V. It seems like the barrel alone generally sells for around $300 - $350. Heck, for another $100 or so I can get the whole darned gun!

My DWAS hasn't diminished much recently; not only do I want to keep adding to my 15-2, but I can't wait to get my hands on a DW 44. Love my S&W 29 and 629 but I want a Dan!

Oh, by the way, since you are familiar with it, I finally got my hard-chrome 15-2. Wow, it is in impeccable condition; the hard chrome finish was very, very nicely done. Judging from the paperwork that accompanied it, it appears that it was hard chromed around 1990. It's been an HC gun for close to 30 years and it has only very minor wear, all confined to areas where one would expect to see wear to begin with. I'll get some pictures posted soon.

Scott, it is very hard to get a count. I start getting sidetracked and losing count. I bought a lot of multiple BA deals where the frame was basically free for the price of the barrel assemblies and extras. Then I only bought ANIB types. Before my remission I was buying Supermags. Can't have to many supermags. Nothing like them made anymore. I have some rare ones too. A 32-20, 22 mag, 45 colt, a Gold Series, an engraved 15-2. I am a sucker for 32 mag Field Pistol packs. I have several NOS from Big Boar.

I also have a bunch of porkchops and High Standards.

I branched out to select S&Ws, Pythons, Manurhins, and Llama Super Comanches. Lately I am fond of snub nose Taurus ultralights. They actually are very nice for pocket carry. Remarkably accurate.

I need to start selling a bunch of stuff to make room to upgrade. I may just let my heirs do the distasteful work of selling in the far off future.

I know this is shameless but send the young fella my way. I am selling my very very nice Pack here in the for sale section. At a very fair price due to a medical issue that has come up.

I know what you are talking about in the crazy Barrel prices individually. My Pack may go the parted route if it does not sell fairly quick. I would hate to, but it is worth well over my asking price parted out unfortunately and I can keep the main Frame assembly too on top of that.. And I have time constraints to sell it.

I would then just keep the complete Frame assembly, and throw a set of rubber grips and a spare Barrel assembly on it and part the rest of the pack for more than my asking price.. Would be shame, but have to do what I have to do.

Ole Dog, sounds like you have enough Dans to start a DW Used/NOS gun shop! If you ever get around to selling some stuff - I'm sure we all have stuff we could sell - I hope you let the forum have first crack at it. Thanks for the rundown. I'm sure it'd be an amazing collection to drool over. drool

Carbinone1964, sorry to hear about your present situation. I hope it gets resolved sooner than later. That's a very nice pistol pac. I'm sure it won't be easy to let it go. My father-in-law likes to say, "don't fall in love with anything that can't love you back." He's an FFL holder and sells a lot of nice stuff, so I'm sure he has a hard time selling a lot of his more personal items,  adages be damned. Anyway, good luck to you.
