I have one of those cases that my DW.22 came in.  I keep the gun wiped down with grease and have a couple of pieces of rust inhibiting vapor paper inside.

During moving/storage I had some rust problems with bare barrels stored in a padded envelope.  They cleaned up OK, but lesson learned to keep things greased/oiled.  I'm a fan of the special storage bags with rust inhibiting coatings (?) inside for long term storage.

I call it a soft case also. They were listed as rugs and went for $69 and $89 buy it now. I think a bit much, but I needed to do something.

"Needed to do something"?  What are you trying to do?

My original BAs all came in small boxes with the BA wrapped in vapor paper.

For plain old storage I have most of my handguns in knit "socks" stored in the safe.  Sack-Ups, Midway (Allen) socks, and other sock type products.  All help keep the parts from getting starched and dinged.  Same for "parts" including most of the DW BAs.

I had great luck with Z Corr storage bags (with each individual gun in a "sock") during our big move.  From 105+ in storage to -20 and colder.  Not a problem.

Plain padded envelopes did NOT work for me.

Midway has some nice silicon treated pistol cases that caught my eye, but I didn't get any.  They look like they'd work better than straight sock type products for complete handguns.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Anti-rust paper on the way. My 55 gun safe is already overflowing. I have a large construction tool box (a/k/a gang box) with 15,000 rounds of ammo and 5 pistol pacs. I needed to combine the barrels so they wouldn't always be in the way. I had that pouch years ago, and I like them. Waiting on Stan for the 7 barrel case. Plus I have 3 solo pistols so when I make room for some of the barrels, they will go in the pouches. Last but not least, I have what is a borderline obsession with accessories.  Just have to have them. It's all about presentation.

An easy, no fuss, cost effective solution to storing your barrel assemblies is wax paper.  Double it over, put your BA on it and spray it down with a light oil (RemOil), and wrap it in the wax paper.  I then place the wrapped assy in a plastic "fishnet" protector.  It's the best solution I've come up with including any and all commercially available storage alternatives.  I'll post a pic here shortly
