How common was it for people to send in their Dan Wessons for repairs?

Being heavy into silhouette at the time I can tell you quite a few guys sent theirs back for trigger jobs. The manual stated nice 2lb trigger or similar and they held DW to it. The trigger upon return was SWEET!

I personally sent my 41v10 back because it was supposed to meet the 4lb production rule and mine was over weight. They re-contoured the bottom of the shroud and made it 3lb 15.5 oz.

Shortly after getting my 15-2 in 1977, I had to return it for repairs. I had over tightened the barrel nut, then rounded out the slots trying to remove it. This was with the crappy two piece barrel tool that was standard at the time. I was always VERY careful using that tool after that.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Shortly after buying my 715 and 744 in '86, I had to return the 744 because the ejector rod was bent. It came back perfect and I have had no issues with any of my DW revolvers since.

I have had some issues with my 1911's, but Keith took care of them.

I have a 740 .357 Supermag. Bought used about 1986.

I also have a .22 Single Action. Wife won it in a drawing at a silhouette match. I sent it back in 1990 and had them do a trigger job. Paid $40.00 I think. But , this was one of the times they sold. I was worried would I get the gun back or would it get lost in the transition. I was dissatisfied with the results. Took it to the 91 IHMSA Internationals. They said I had not sent it back to them. I said someone cashed my check. Upon inspection he found a bad part. But mine now has a stamp on the tang to signify it was built by prior company and still warrantied by the new company of that time.

Asking for help for model and date.  .357 Mag, blued, eight inch vent "pork chop" barrel, five digit Monson serial number, ( 6373X ).  I've looked through some of the data on the forum, but would like more info.

Thank you.

That serial number puts the manufacture date at 1976 which means that it is not a pork chop, but rather a 15-2. To my knowledge there was never a pork chop with an eight inch barrel, and certainly not with a vent rib.

Your revolver then as far as I can determine is a 15-2V8.  Can you post a photo for verification? We love photos here at the DWF!

Seems it's time to lock this topic.  Sorry that it never really turned out the way it was intended.  Ron
