Dating is not a for sure process, By DWF registry I would say 1979

Dave thanks it does look nice and now you guys have me hooked on getting a SM. All I collected up until now was Pistol Packs. I do not want to bid if I am not sure what caliber it is as ammo is difficult to come by correct and most reload their own?

The .375 cal. rounds are VERY costly, .357 Max are not near as bad. I got .445s from Black Dog, very happy.

Notice; .375 for more money, you get 20 rds .357 max is 50 rds.

No problem, It IS a .357 Max, you can tell by the length of the cylinder. Much longer than .357 Mag. though Will shootÂ
.357 Magnum also !! The E in SN also is a SM, I think.

It is a 357 SM not a 375 SM for sure? Shawn called me from Dan Wesson and he could not be sure what it was just got off the phone with him. I wish you guys did not give me the bug to get one of these.

That is a Model 40 SuperMag in .357 Maximum, which is the entry level SM and a great starting point. Ammunition is fairly inexpensive and not hard to come by. Don't shoot anything under 170-grain or flame-cutting can occur.

Thanks for the info. as I will be bidding on this one and a stainless on GB both 357 SM now that you guys have me hooked into it. I will see if they fall within what I can afford. I know it is an auction but what do you feel is a fair price to be paid without overpaying? I have seen the posts on the 445 at over 2K and all say he is crazy. Thanks for the help!!!!

The E prefix denotes .357 Super Mag on those revolvers that don't begin with 357SM. A model 740 is denoted by SExxxx

As far as price: Very subjective. Me, I would maybe go 1250.00 on 40 VH8 do to condition. Now if I had your $$$ maybe 1800.00 +Â 
 makes you do crazy things. All depends on who and how bad they want it.

It looks like a VERY nice gun, buy it.
You will have to buy a second one to shoot at the range, may have to buy third to scope for hunting and then a fourth for carry.  is hitting deep, gotta go lay down, maybe a couple of aspirin.
