First Texas Regional DWF Conference Minutes:

Yessir, well, ol' Dusty n' ol' CDF met down at Red's Shootin' Range there in Pflugerville.  We took care o' new business (introductions)  out in the lobby then got right down to the serious conference issues at hand, out on the range.

Seems ol' CDF had some new irons and a bunch o' fine home-loads that needin' testin, so we went ahead and tested 'em.  All of 'em.  Seems ol' Dusty didn't have a whole lotta experience with them big cartridges and thought ol' CDF brought some howitzer rounds by accident, but it turned out that Ol' CDF knows his ammo...they fit right in there and fired up just fine...

Well, we tested all of 'em except for that new fine lookin' compensated stainless 445 SuperMag ol' CDF brought.  Ol' CDF was just plain proud of that one, and brought it along so his big rifle case looked like something you'd see ol' IHMSA80X80 luggin' around - all full 'a Supermags and everything...and give people something to gawk at y'know - which they did...he'll be testin' that one real soon I reckon...we'll be lookin' for that report...

Well anyway, we did our testin' and the 744 and that sweet talkin' two slot seemed to be just a great, uh, "focal point" for the conference.  So we conferred about 'em a whole bunch...

Ol' CDF is gonna have to provide the details on the guns n' ammo and the big holes in the targets cuz all I know is that ol' Dusty shoulda never shot either one of 'em.  His wife just ain't gonna understand no more guns showin' up on the inventory list...and a fella could fall in love with that SuperMag pretty danged easy...Yes sir...

So we eventually shot up all a' ol' CDF's ammo and never did get to Ol' Dusty's li'l 'ol Model 15...it won't spoil though...so we closed that first Texas conference appropriately with the special DWF "case closin' ceremony".  'Course y'all know that's where you just stand around and admire the iron in the other fella's case, make a few complimentary comments, close 'em up, slap on the back and hit the road.

Yep, it was a pretty good first regional conference all in all...Hope y'all git t'have yer own Regional DWF Conference real soon...

Yer humble correspondant Mr. Dusty Trail.

Interestingly enough, we just held the First Connecticut Regional DWF Conference, and I agreed with myself that we need more members. We're shooting for 100% growth before the next meeting (yeah, I actually talked to myself about this-crazy, huh?)

Seriously, good job on getting together. I'll be in Houston/Galveston very briefly next month, maybe I can be a visiting Member.

Too funny!Laugh  They say you're never alone if you're schizophrenic…

3 hour drive to (or from) Houston, but do-able.  That would be a “multi regional” - danged near be a Jamboree…

edit -->Hey! I just noticed that was your 400th post.  A new milestone! (not counting Jody of course...).  Congratulations!

I agree we need regional conferences.  I know of one other PA member, maybe a central Eastern?

probably not enough time for a get together at that distance. I'm flying down to help my son get his apartment put into storage, and then we straight drive his truck back to CT for storage. He deploys to Bahrain on April 13 for 15 months. Gonna be a long couple weeks- April 3-4 roundtrip drive CT-VA-CT for his units' Deployment Ceremony, fly to TX April 7, drive TX-CT, April 13-14 roundtrip drive CT-VA-CT to see him off. He leaves 2-3 weeks ahead of the rest of his unit, so we get no Pre-Deployment leave.

One of the worst days of my life yesterday-we received our copy of his Last Will and Testament and Powers of Attorney. My wife cried, and I nearly did.

Pray for our Service Men and Women

...just havin' a little fun...Wink

Steve - that is some schedule.  You will not have a free minute but of course you will always have an open invite!!  If you need help, put out the call!

That's pretty tough documentation for a parent to deal with...my prayers are surely with your son as they are with all of our brave soldiers.  We see a lot of them down here - and they all look so young.  They are heros.

Dusty and I had a great time. I see a 357 SuperMag in somebody's future. Wink

Good thing the range was closing or we would have left with no ammo at all. I am really enjoying the repeat love affair with these Dan Wessons. This was the first trip to the range I've made in the past 3-4 years when I didn't shoot the AR- that's a good sign. I took it out of the case, put the rifle and some ammo on the bench, and after about 20 rds of 357Max, sent the AR packin. Seems I have the desire to shoot the hand cannons instead. I am sure that will help me overcome the breathing and sight alignment issues that I suffer from currently.

Dusty, tighten up those bootstraps. The 7445 will be removed from the case on the next go-round. I just ordered an 8# keg of 4227 and a boatload of bullets, so that should keep us in SuperMag ammo awhile. I feel the results with the last batch of 357Max ammo has found me a pet-load. We had pretty fine results with the Sierra 180gr Sil bullets on top of 19.2gr of 4227. I might try to fatten them up just a tad more on the next attempt to see if we can't tighten the group a hair more. I will have Dusty shoot them after I test a cylinder since he gives much more thought to sight alignment and breathing than I. I just get too darned excited so my trigger control and POI goes south.

I'm looking forward to the 2nd Regional DWF Conference.

I'm going for the South Eastern conference tomorrow If any one is in the area. Laugh   LOL-LOL-LOL   Although I don't remember anyone else being from this area, There is a large gun show in Atlanta where a friend and I are going to do a little DW huntin. At least I will be DW huntin. Still trying to convert my friend. Wish me luck, and I will post back if I find anything interesting.

What part of SC? I'm only about 30 miles from Augusta, actually a lot closer than I am to Alanta.

Sounds like a epidemic of Dan Wessonitis is going around. You can recognize a case of wessonitis by the big ole grin on the fellow with the busted bank account and the occisonal hopping mad spouse.

If your monthly ammo bill is higher than your power bill. You might have Dan Wessonitis. LaughLaughLaugh
