These were the nice ones! Hard to find came in small or large! THe one your looking at is vinyl I think that's the only way they came. I have one lying around it's a bit used The embline is half worn off.

I've got a couple of the pleather ones and one of the embroidered ones.
The embroidered ones are nicer.

I have quite a few of the pleather ones. Definately not leather. The ones with the handle came much later, perhaps Norwich. I don't have one of them😢.ÂÂ

Yes, those are vinyl...or "pleather". 
I seriously doubt there were any actual leather ones made. Somewhere in my stash of "stuff" I have a DW advert showing the vinyl cases available to order. I think it was in the Palmer years, but I could be mistaken. This weekend, I will try to find that ad.
If you look at post #17 in THIS THREAD there seem to have been two colors made, tan & maroon. I have a tan one, still looking for a maroon one.ÂÂ

My .22 came in the tan Vinyl soft case. Monson gun. Paper wrap date is '79 I think. Bought in '80?

I wonder why all of these cases had the small patch sewn on the bottom? I thought mine had been repaired but I see all of them has it. Mine must have been left in the heat the vinyl is now crisp you push on it and a crack starts! Also Dan Wesson is wearing off!

It is where the end of zipper is sewn into case.  Also a backstop for the zipper

Agreed, a zip stop to keep the zipper from over extending itself. Apparently these days it's considered unsightly, but back then it was simply a "meh", disregard this little spot.
