OfflineI was looking in the serial number list and page 9 has it listed as a 38 special. Is the a difference
between a W12 and a 12 ?
I was in the understanding that a W12 and a 12  was a .357 mag.
I am sure it is correct butÂÂ
 someone school me on this.
Thanks ,                ÂÂ

OfflineThe difference between a 12 & W12 is that the 12 is the earlier original version. Shortly into production, they changed it to a W12...and also the 11 to a D11. Presumably the "D & W" represented "Dan Wesson".
Both models were available in .38 Spl or .357 Mag, however the .357 appears to be far more common. I have a D11 in .38 Spl, for example & have only seen maybe two or three others like it.
