Just picked up a new to me dan wesson 15-2, I wasn't aware at the time of purchase but the cylinder latch seemsed tight, but if I exert enough pressure on the side of the cylinder to swing out the latch will move down and pop out of the frame.

There doesn't appear to be any wear on the lip or the recess of the frame where the latch sits, could it be the spring is worn down? I checked for any crud that would keep the crane from sitting flush with the receiver and I can't tell for sure but to my young eyes it looks great.

Any tips? Experience with this issue?

Check for a burr on the mating faces. Particularly the top of the catch. I had the same issue & that was the cause.

I checked very carefully and it doesn't look to be the case, as soon as my barrel wrench comes in I'll pull it apart and see what it means.

Speaking of, what is the best way to get the roll pin out of the crane to get the latch and spring?

Well I pulled out the cylinder, checked all the areas where there might be burrs and cleaned it up nice with a file and some steel wool, and it got it a little better but if I press the side of the cylinder near the front (where the forcing cone is) it still will come out with enough applied force.

This doesn't happen if I press the cylinder out near the middle or rear.

So perhaps it is the spring, but I can't get the roll pin out.

Does anyone know what size roll pin punch I need to get this out? The 1/16 is a tad too big and it's not dimpled, it's one I had lying around

I think if you use a 1/16 with dimple you would find it fits. Without the dimple it is not being centered.Â
