But there is a problem I need advice on:
Bought a 740 in the Factory styrofoam "undamaged" box for a premium price, >$2K. Matching box with ser# was part of the appeal.  Biggest chuck of change spent on DW.   So, Emotionally and Financially invested. Â
Shipping FFL dropped it a way-too-big USPS shipping box without adequate packing protection.   Styrofoam box is broken with interior and exterior pieces separated from top/bottom trays.   Gun appears fine.
Insured.  Seller wants to make me happy, but the $100 shipping and insurance refund he has offered, looks to be inadequate for compensation to buy a replacement in good condition.
I transferred the gun, so return does not appear to be an option, per seller.
FFL Shipper person has passed the buck to owner who has not-yet responded to seller.   Shipping FFL will blame USPS, and USPS will blame Shipping FFL.   And this will take months.
A damaged Large Frame 44 Factory styrofoam box. is ebay listed @ $99.99, but seller did no respond to request for insurance.
Found another Large Frame Factory styrofoam boxon GB, with papers and tool for >$200.
Seller and I both agree that this is an annoying, inconvenient, messed up situation.   But we have not come to an equitable solution.
Somebody has gone through this before. Â What was your solution? Â Financially, would it apply in today's market?

From what I have seen if the revolver came with the original box, tools, paperwork it usually brings 100-150 extra over an auction with just the revolver. I was looking at the 740 also but thought it was a little expensive, have been on the lookout for a nice 740 for some time. Bidding on a Model 40 auction that is just the revolver right now, prefer to have a complete package but if it goes cheap maybe.

Take the $100 and buy another box. Chalk it up to bad luck. Otherwise you will be mad for months and not come out any better.

Save the slip on the Styrofoam that has the serial number. That is all that matters. I assume the tool and any other extras are still there? Put the serial number on a replacement box when you find one.Â
