What is this exactly, and what is the significance of the slab side BA?
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

If a man designed it, and a man built it, then a man can fix it.

I believe it helps with muzzle rise, quicker follow up shots in competition.

The gun as a whole was built to meet the rules of competition for that sport. Within that it allows for certain barrel lengths and then overall weight. the slab side is an attempt to build a gun that is both within the rules and give an advantage to the shooter that would not exist with a stock gun.Â
Â
Things a slab-side may do:
reduce muzzle flip (from hot loads)
aid in steadying the hand (any load)
Â
Muzzle flip from a light round at low velocities is neglible, DW provides a platform for having hte right BA for the right situation.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
