Just sitting here going through some past threads and noticed " Gearheads show off your rides " and thought maybe, just maybe some of us may tend to the sea. I've had a few boats in my time, first one was a 1961 Sport Craft, took it home with a small tree growing in it, after 2yrs I restored it to the best I could being that it was not a Chriscraft and parts were extremely scarce for that manufacture and...I was young. My wife at that point in time, thought I was nuts!  however after 2 yrs it was beautiful, Mahogany deck, even put the original pin strips back on the deck. The horn was shot and couldn't find the original, so I mounted a 1986 Peterbuilt truck horn underneath the small ( very small ) cuddy, hooked up to a air storage tank. Yes, it was loud!. Had it in boat shows locally, what a classic.

Skip a few boats that came and went threw the years, and got a hold of my first I/O about 7 yrs ago. 24' Aft cabin 1988 Sea Sprite. I was the 3rd owner and kinda miss it, I sold it two seasons ago to upgrade to a bigger boat to keep up at the big lake, Lake Erie. Still searching... This time I want to get a hold of a late model 28-30 Ft. Carver, fly bridge of course.

This was the 88 Sea Sprite, named it after my youngest daughter....

Nice shine!  You either painted it or wheeled the heck out of it to get it that nice.  Red and navy blue are the hardest to keep a shine.  Red tends to go mauve or purple with oxidation and blue just gets chalky.  I can see the effort that went into that shine.

Here's a pic of my 32' Sea Ray016.JPGImage Enlarger

Here is a poor picture of a previous boat, a 1982 Sea Ray SRV 260SXL.  I replaced all the original stripes and had the camper top custom made.  It was a great boat but the family out grew it and we had to up size.  The main difference aside from the extra 6 feet in length is the 11'6" width of the 32, SOO much more volume inside than the old 8' beam on the 260. The 260 SXL was a rare boat though, only a few hundred made and only in 1982 and 1983, had a real Miami Vice feel about the interior.  Kind of miss it from time to time but wouldn't want to go back.

Oh, you can see where my screen name comes from, it was the name of that old boat and I used it as my online handle on the boating forums and it kind of stuck. 🙂

I fish and cruise.  One of the reasons I selected this particular boat, large open cockpit (when tops is down) and also a spacious cabin that sleeps 6 and will run 40+ mph if needed.

Ok, I have a BAS which is kind of likedwas. Fortunately I'm in the business, so it keeps the fleet from destroying my addiction to Dans.  Here is my 27' Baja. it's my grocery getter and point a to b boat.DAVE-FAM-BOAT-PORT.jpgImage Enlarger

I then have two sailboats a 22 Catalina, and a 33 Morgan.

Then for my longer excursions I have this DC 42' Uniflite.

You are my hero CaptDan, your cake and eat it too! I really like that old Uniflite, they were solid built boats with classic lines. For you deciding which boat to take out is like trying to decide which Dan to take to the range:)

My buddies 18' Everglades "Flats" boat, that I captain when we go fishing, because he's too busy getting as many lines in the water as he can. With a full tank of gas, a cooler of beer, the two of us and all our gear, the boat only drafts 6-8" of water.  My favorite thing about this boat, other than getting into areas a canoe would have difficulty, is the level, flat walkway on the gunwales all the way around.  Here I am with two Tripletails (30 & 25 lbs.) that I caught off the coast of Kennedy Space Center.

Nice !! My uncle RIP always had small boats, Learned to ski and wind surf etc. w/pre teen.

He was a dentist and lived near Columbus,Oh and had a Catamaran, learned basic sailing on it !!

Love to fish and had a 19.5' Sea Star in the 90s. good fishing boat, but no time now. Haven't got

a fishing lic. in about 4 yrs. mad. Starting a new buss. = No time

Uncle also had a condo in Key Largo and took my cuz and me on a charter fishing boat of Keys.

Storm came through that eve. before and we had 12'-14' waves and we all got sick [Uncle was in Navylaughing]

and he got sick too, but we caught an 80 lb. amberjack and a 40 lb. tuna. occasion

The original owner had the red painted, the story I got was his buddy ran an auto body shop. Now the Gel coat was a different story, I had to use a marine Maguires three step restoration process, which I believe I had done three times before it met my approval. I did receive a lot of compliments to the shine.

NICE Sea Ray, those are impeccable boats.

Pleasure on my end, all though the crew fished. I just skippered the boat.

Captain Dan - I have to agree w/Scorpio, that is a NICE  Uniflite. What year?

That's some big fish Stinger!

Nice fish Stinger!  How do they eat?   Don't see them up north.  We mainly get Striper, sea bass, flounder, croaker (hard heads), Tautog, a few trigger fish and scup (porgies) inshore.  Offshore we get Yellow fin tuna, Mahi, marlin and a few sailfish.  Also golden tilefish on the deep drops.  I don't do offshore on my boat so mainly the small inshore species are what we catch.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

One of the very few wins of my fishing career, especially offshore. I'd never even heard of a Tripletails before, but they were one of the best tasting fish I've ever had.  We usually fish the inland saltwater flats and mangroves for Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout and Snook.
