OfflineWell, 3 of us went to West Texas to try to bite a chunk out of 200+ Hog Sounder. Those numbers may have been overstated. But, we found three groups of 25-50 each. No confirmed kills for me. Next morning we counted 22 carcasses in the areas we shot from.
A bit disappointed that only 2 hogs were dropped on the spot by my group. And, none by my Bruin. Cartridges used were 135gr Hornady Hunter. My 445 Super would've dropped any hit.
Of the 22 carcasses, we think as many as 6-8 might've been mine with multiple hits from others. 24 cartridges spent. Other two shooters were dispensing 5.56.
Only two hogs harvested.
No pics as phone died overnight and was charging when we sought out carcasses.
I am not sure that love for my Bruin has been cemented. Would 180gr ammo have made that much a difference?

Offline135 gr is a "plinking" load for 10mm. 200-230 grain WFN cast bullet is what I'd use for hunting. Still, most of the time, not going to be "lights out" on a hog unless it's a proper neck/head shot. Their anatomy is a little different. What distance were you shooting from?
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

The platform stand was maybe 20-30 yards. The Blind was 40-50 yrds. And from the gator was 30 to 100 yards

OfflineFirst time I ever tried shooting at game with a handgun was with my Bruin. I wasn't really intending to, but the opportunity presented itself.
Range was ~25 yards, and load was a 180 gr. S&B JHP. It worked just fine, with a clean head shot. I don't know how to post a video here, but you should be able to see it here, if you scroll to Post #17:

Thanks, Ron!
BTW - We still need to meet up one of these days! Lemme know any time you're down around Sulphur, and have time for a cup of coffee (or a beer!).
