Can anyone recommend a good holster for field carry? Â I've got a hunting trip planned next month, and I'd like to carry my 41-V8 on my side. Â I had an Uncle Mike, but it felt like it was lined with sandpaper. Â The holder inside snap button rubbed against the cylinder. Â It did not mar the finish, but it was threatening to so into the trash it went. Â Long story short, I'm looking for a good carry holster for a large revolver.

I don't often carry w an 8" tube but when I do a break front shoulder holster is the only thing that works for me. I have a 20+ year old Bianchi X15 that is still holding up well. As you state you have an 8" V you may try shopping based on an 8 3/8 S&W 29. VH tubes are harder to fit - I usually search on Colt Anaconda but even that is fairly uncommon...
