My first Dan, I bought it a couple of months ago in the Netherlands. I like the gun very much and I know this one is very rare and hard to find in the Netherlands.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for your nice replies!

I had to do a lot of polishing to remove some serious scratches from the steel.

I also removed all the paint from the grip and  did a repaint.

It's a Monson. The serial number is 22s00128x. I think the gun was made in  1991 or 1992.

Can anyone confirm???

Thank,  Paul

91' seems about right Paul, great looking Dan. Nice job on the grip, too.

I have one nearly identical but the serial no. is SA00147x and had a non original grip. Why would the numbers be different - his with the 22 first and mine with just an SA?

Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong Butch, but there may have been some "set" guns... Seems I remember some .44's and .357's spoken of that were set guns and marked A & B.. That is just conjecture from me on that point. Maybe some of the S.S. guys might shed some light..

Paul, welcome to the forum. You sure did a great job on the grips and polish. It is good to hear how special dans are from across the pond. Butch, over time the method for serializing changed . At first there was only one caliber. When they added 22 and then 44 and others they added letters ( A, B, C etc ) to the begining of the serial #. They then started with S for stainless . Later in the 80's they began with the caliber followed by S or B (stainless or blue) and them the number. It is very confusing.

That's a beauty!  You have to do a bit of looking for a 722 here in the US as well.  A 722 was my first Dan Wesson as well.

Thanks everyone.

I looked for years here to get a 722. As far as I know there are less than five in the whole country. Paid $450, so I think I made a nice deal.

That is a very, very, very nice Dan.  I'm salivating right now over it.  You did a fantastic job cleaning it up - so much so I think I could see my reflection in it!  Thank you for sharing and showing the beautiful work you put in to it.

There is a 722 on Gun Broker right now. Super high beginning bid and no biders. I apologize but I dont know how to go about posting the link when I see something on an auction.

I think this is the one Butch.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=459226650

Extreme beginning bid!

Gun needs some cleaning,  lots of dirt at the front of the cylinder.  The serial number 22s001824 is in the same range as mine, must be from 1991.

For me it's a confirmation that I didn't pay too much for mine.
