Well I certainly stand corrected, and dont mind a bit.  I was just repeating what the silly dealer told me.  Apparently first issue SN's CAN go past 100.  And yes it was serial no's per model.  That much I remember from the NYI man I spoke to in the "shop" that took my order for a 6″ barrel with matching numbers – before the CZ merger.  Now I wish I got a 2″ as well.

I am the original purchaser, with box in hand.

I have some printed history statements from the old NYI D.W. site stating the new pistols started shipping in 1997.  Can't really remember when I got this one but I do have the reciept tucked away.

Here is newly aquired M-22 Ser#11525 that shoots like a dream, the internals, side plate and internal frame has no shinny spots from use after removal of dust and dirt. Barrel had a minor bit of lead fouling and right side of gun has some minor surface rust I suspect from laying on something like a cloth in a drawer or closet shelf and will need rebluing. I have never seen a new gun, Colt or S&W with as tight as lock-up as this gun has.

Here it is with the M-15, the two grips have slightly different logo designs. Weight and feel are enough alike as to be impossible tell difference w/o feeling for hole size.

Not sure why the second picture of the M-15 & M-22 is not showing above, while the picture of M-22 by itself is showing in above post. Anyway here is the M-22 on left and M-15 right.

Shoot, would you mind filling us in on your 22? I haven't seen a slotted shroud nor a non-fluted cylinder on a 22 before.

Here is my 22. I have a model 15 with a non-vented heavy 6" barrel. The shroud was reblued by blue ridge bluing a while back. They do nice work.

All it takes is $$$ and you can have one too. Keith at DW will hook you up, he and I discussed about doing a two-tone 715 on the next planned run. But I will be going with a light weight commander as I'm just not a revolver shooter even though I have 6 DW revolvers. I think it's about cleaning all those holes in the cylinder.

There is a thread on here somewhere about it-- I did the shroud myself, just a standard 22 shroud slotted on a mill.  I put a SS barrel in it for good contrast.  The cylinder is an original Factory DW one-off I bought from a Monson plant VP.  It took a little fitting, but it was worth it.

New to Forum but wanted to add info on one that I got recently, and find out date of mfg and other info. Its a Monson  blue 6" or maybe 6 1/8" 22lr with the D W logo grips. Its serial is 1564X and it has a pinned red ramp front sight and adjustable rear sights. I don't know the difference in a model 22 and a 722. Could it be the  bottom of the barrel has a short weigh/extention with printing on it, rather than the full length underlug barrel ?  I guess its a model 22, dont' know why they call it the small frame as its every bit as big as the 357 models, a big grip for a big hand.... Thanks for sharing.
