Nickel is a chemical element with the symbol Ni and atomic number 28. It is a silvery-white lustrous metal with a slight golden tinge that takes a high polish. Nickel belongs to the transition metals and is hard and ductile. It is one of only four elements that are magnetic at or near room temperature.

Also, Dan Wesson used the metal as a finish on some of his firearms. Here is a pic of my Model 14-N for your viewing pleasure.

Post up pics of yours too !

The Serial Number and Model Number were stamped on the frame, underneath the Crane, indicated by the blue arrow.

I was also lucky enough to acquire a vintage factory Model 15-N Pistol Pack, with the grip blank. Not sure what happened to the original 6" Nickel shroud, but the blue one will work just fine until I locate a NOS replacement (yeah, right).

Thanks for sharing the photos of your DW 14 and 15! Really like the brochure of the 11, 12, 14 & 15 also.

The Beauty of the nickel porkchops is that the inside frame is also nickeled and to my mind, contributes, to a smoother trigger pull than any of my blue Dans.

Thanks for sharing yourcool-pics those both look great!drool

For whatever reason, I can never find good examples of nickel DW's, the finish on the ones I find are always buggered up.frown If you pop the front sight out of your 6" BA, you should be able to have it finished to match the other ones in your Pac.

We could take a ride to Fords of Crystal River. Actually two rides. One to drop it off and one to pick it up.

Weren't you considering refinishing something too, as I recall ?

I was always told that Nickel is softer and scratches quite easily (compared to chrome in the care world).  I love the colour of nickel, I'd love one.

RE, FORDS. Yes, besides some shrouds I was thinking of getting a bunch of sideplates refinished to remove the ejector star scratches. Since frames and sideplates never match in color (even if you think they do, they don't. Sunlight will show the difference) no one will ever know it is reblue. As long as they are not mixed up replacing them. May take a bunch of trips.

The steel alloy composition is probably different between the frame and sideplate.
