So about a month ago I inquired to Genny about any 445 Barrel assemblies left. She told me no but the next week messaged me and said she found some 445's in bad shape. Told be they would need re-bluing and the 8 inch she only had a stainless barrel but I was in. With the barrels running out as they sell out their not going to be any left soon. Genny got the four barrels together (10VH thru 4VH) and got them fe=done where needed so a big thanks to her!

Thanks for the topic and sharing this information. It is very sad, but also part of a business model that has dried up for them. It definitely makes what is out there more valuable, at least for awhile until all of us age out of our collections. I never did a blued pack like you did, probably should have.

Are the barrels actually different than the standard 44 magnum barrels?
Longer ejector slot on the shroud
Barrels are not shrouds. Barrel assemblies are barrels and shrouds (also barrel nut).
Is the barrel thread pitch on the .44 the same as a .445 ?
Yes, the barrel is 44 caliber and the same for 44 mag and 445 Supermag. The shroud of a Supermag has a longer ejector rod slot to accommodate the longer rod for the longer cylinder. A 445 shroud will work on a 44 Mag but a 44 shroud will not fit a 445 unless a shorter 44 mag ejector rod is used.

Thanks, that’s what I suspected but it’s good info in the event a shroud becomes available separate from the barrel.

Along with the 10" original barrel I purchased from Stan, I also purchased one of the CZ 8" .445 barrels thanks to Genny. The barrel arrived today and the barrel will not screw in far enough to have the proper cylinder-to-barrel gap. Has anyone else had this problem?

Maybe post some pics. I just checked all my new barrels 2 out of the 4 it got hard to screw them in the last few turns I had to really put some force to get them to screw in the last turn so maybe try that. Also my 8 inch is a stainless inner barrel even though the shroud is blue. She had told me they were out of blue 8 inch blue inner barrel so I took what I could get it was one of the barrels that was harder to screw in the last turn.

I tried that and it would not screw in far enough. I looked at it under the magnifying lamp and it looks like it's not threaded far enough up the barrel (see pic).

I guess you will have to give Genny a call. I think they just use 44 magnun barrels now for 445 also but not sure. hopefully she has another one in stock. I have looked at the new CZ barrels and my 44 mag barrels look exactly the same as the 445 barrels! I have them right here they look the same.

OK, DUH, it's not the barrel, there is something wrong with the frame. There is plenty of threading on the new 8" barrel, it just stops about 1&1/2 to 2 turns short of being able to set the proper gap (see pic). I tried the 8" barrel in my 44 magnum and it screws in all the way with no problem. I also took the .445 6" barrel that came with it and tried it in my 44 magnum. It screwed in fine until I got close to the proper gap, and then it was somewhat difficult to turn, but it did go all the way in with a little bit of effort and I set the gap with no problem. I can probably force the 8" barrel into the 445 frame, but I'm concerned about damaging the threads.
The 10" barrel that I purchased from Stan should be here by the weekend, so I'll do some more experimenting when that barrel arrives.

Hmmm you just bought that gun correct? I hope it's an easy quirky fix. You don't want to be added to the Stan Dan Club of every gun yo buy has a problem. So you have another gun you can troubleshoot that's good anyway. I have problems crop up where I have to go back to the past to figure out what U have done. One of them is I would try to run the gun in single/double action and it would have problems rotating and it always comes back to me having the barrel installed wrong. Pull the gap tool to early or another thing that crops up is when your tightening your barrel nut and it does not turn freely so as you tighten it your screwing the barrel in to tight and the gap is to close. It can be frustrating! good luck i'm sure rhe experts here will help you get it fixed or figure out what's wrong!
