since I have been nosing around here seeing diff. areas of topics I bothered to actually weigh mine and unloaded my 744 8" comes in at 60.8 ounces! I am out of rounds but it'll be interesting to see when fully loaded let's say 240gr.hp

Big guns are not light guns. Especially when all steel. Plastic isn't good for pistol whipping.

Which grip? That might make a difference. Someone posted a couple years ago their 744 VH8 loaded tripped the scale at 72 oz or 4.5 lbs, no idea who it was or even if it was on DW forum.
That weight is what makes 300gr hot loads seem like a S&W N frame with light loaded 357 for recoil.
