i had a model 85 Taurus for a while that i had bought for my wife. she never really liked it so with her blessings i traded it for this. this was my first Dan Wesson and is what got me hooked on them.

specs: 44 mag with horrible bluing. 6"VH barrel that was stuck on. i mean it wouldnt move.

i had a friend who was just getting started in coatings, so i took the DW to him and had him coat it.
In the meantime I ordered the hogue grips to install when I got it home.

i loved the gun! it shot great and looked good, but i never really thought the finish looked at home on a revolver (auto maybe, revo, no!), so i sold it in favor of one with a good factory blue finish.

anyway, this is the progression…

from this (yucky)

Yea the guy that got it from me traded it and the gunshop put it on. Think it went for what I allowed on trade so somebody lost money somewhere. Lol.

I remember seeing that when it was on GB. And I agree with ya, the finish doesn't fit the gun too well.Smile However, since the original finish was so far gone, it was worth the experiment. Did you shoot it much after you coated it? Just wondering how it held up...some coatings don't seem to fare too well at the front of the cylinder.

Kind-a grows on you, took me twenty years to "grow on" the plastic stock and

matte finish most guns come in today. Now I have more than I thought I ever

would in the gun cabinets. But I will always have a sweet tooth for polish blue and figured

wood.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

I'd be willing to bet if it had been done in digital camo you'd be able to command a nice price for it.  It looks much better with the black Hogue grip.

Might even look good in tiger-stripe camo since you already have the green base.

I saw a 460 Roland recently (not a DW by the way) that was Coyote tan that looked quite nice.
