The "Understanding Barrel Configurations" in FAQ states;

"2,4,6,8,10,12,15 = barrel length (12″ and 15″ were only available for 357 magnum model 15 and 715)".

4,6,8,10 were Offered in 445 in Vent, Vent heavy and standard as well as compensated combinations.  You're right, they aren't cheap.  DW will still make them for you.

So the statement in FAQ should be amended to also exclude 2-1/2" barrels from SM models ?

I have never seen a 2.5" SM barrel assembly, if some exist, I'd guess they were custom jobs.  Now to muddle things up even more for you, I have a 7445 with a 5VHS BA and a 460 Rowland with a 5.5" VH-C BA.  So there are exceptions to the rules.

the only difference between a s/m b/a and a .44 mag b/a is the roll marking on the side.... so if ya wanna shoot some other stuff, just shop around for .44 mag b/a's

I've swapped them all around for years...on my shooter guns...

oh, Dave... sorry I got your other thread locked down, I slipped up, won't happen again, I promise...aside from that, we got 8" of snow last night.... man, I hate snow.....

The supermag ejector rods are longer than those on the 44 mag and are too long for the slot in the regular mag BA.  I've tried to do the swap but mine won't fit. Otherwise, the BA's are the same except for roll mark.  It would be easy for someone with access to the proper machines to cut the slot longer to make it possible to use the regular 44 BA's though.

I just swap the rods when I switch shrouds, they all work ok, but yes, I forgot to mention the rod thing, I guess I just have too many of these in various states of swapping mode... that's bad, I know....

THIS is Pure Perfection

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

UH that's a 4" not a 2.5. From bottom up: 4,6,8,10 on the gun.

BTW, Very nice kit SMF!

Some day, yes some day!  I will own a 445.  That is photo is inspirational.

They are stout no doubt about that.  I like the VH4C, the compensator really helps tame the muzzle climb.  A have shot a VH4 and its a handful, especially with warmer loads.  31 gn H110 and its a real fire show at the range, more so with the short barrels, really gets everyone's attentionbig-grin

Correct me if not,I read in thread a while back that SM's have a vent in barrel inside shroud. So it gets dirty inside shroud. Are all SM's like this. If so I'll need wrench and how often should be cleaned?

Also can you date my 7445 ??

SN 445S0010xx. SM only made by Palmer ??

Thanks occasion
