There are many great 1911's out there, and some less than great.
I am firmly convinced that if Dan was alive today, he would be fully involved in today's 1911 market, and I think he'd be proud of the place that Dan Wesson has there.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Probably. Dan was a metallurgy expert and would have recognized the suitably of modern alloys. IMHO.
