I own a lot of guns. None of them has ever impressed me quite as much as my Dan Wesson Pointman 7-45. I like it so much, well, I bought another one.
These guns are kept in very limited production by Dan Wesson for the California market because otherwise Series 70-type platforms, unless grandfathered in like the PM7, cannot be sold here. Since California is about 25-30% of the US gun market, that keeps the PM7 in production and I am glad that it does!
This gun shoots as good or maybe better than my (1980-81 vintage) Colt 45 Series 70 Gold Cup. And it has nicer features with the beaver tale, stainless finish, extended thumb safety, etc. This is a wonderful pistol. I talked to Priscilla at DW parts today, and she is sending me a tritium front sight, which is the only amenity that the PM7 lacked as far as I am concerned.
Here is a picture of my 2d PM7 (now my son and I can shoot them together) with brand-new Crimson Trace laser grips.
The difference between a citizen and a civilian is that the citizen makes the safety of the body politic his personal responsibility. The civilian does not.

I've got one as well that belonged to my dad. Very well made gun that shots with all of my other high end 1911's. I had to get the trigger on mine redone as dad had it set to a super scary low pull weight. Got it set back to roughly 2.5lbs now, hopefully no more unexpected double taps.
