Looking for guidance.  Twice today my SC8007CZ double fired while practicing steel challenge.  This 1911 has about 1000 rounds through it.

What are the typical causes?  Will be taking to smith ASAP.

What model is this?  I'm no 1911 smith so I'll let someone else diagnose but I'm going to speculate that the trigger may have been 'tuned' a little too much.

Fist place I'd look is the firing pin spring.  Otherwise, I agree- could be a trigger/sear/disconnector issue.  Is this your gun from new or used previously?  Trigger job or factory?

So it it a 40 SSC or is it a PM-7?  They are all similar, just trying to narrow down the issue.  I don't own an SSC but I do have a PM-7 in 45 and in 10mm.  Was wondering about looking at mine for comparison.

I am second owner, but I know the previous owner and gun is unmodified.  The trigger is light compared to most other 1911's I have fired.   I'll check the grips....

Loose grip as in purchase on the weapon, not a grip panel... sorry about the confusion.

Call or email Kieth Lawton at Dan Wesson in Norwich NY.  They would be the undisputed experts on this issue and the best source for smithing on a Dan.  They may even cover the work under warranty since it is a safety issue.
