Hello everyone, first posting. Found a 715 at a local Philly gunstore. Turns out to have had the short barrel on it nearly its entire life. It's in excellent condition, with the 6 and 8 inch barrels completely unused. The 6 inch is still wrapped in plastic.
My question is about the serial number. From what I've read across the Forum, it should be an early model, but its in a DW-CZ box. Unlike others I've seen on this forum, it is DW0005XX. My thought was that it was a 1970 gun with a replacement box.
Any info appreciated.

Welcome to the forum from PA!!! They didn't make stainless guns in 1970. What does the script look like on the shrouds? One line, two lines of script or a bigger one line script that was laser etched?

It’s a post 2014-15 re-re-introduction(after the 2011 announcement, 2012 release then 2ish year suspension of production) example with the DW prefix serial number. The “new” 715’s were originally offered with the RV prefix serial number and they were changed to DW sometime later I think the initial ones in 2014/15 were also RV prefixes as well.
The shroud should look like the top one
