My model 14 came in but the box serial is 5 higher than the gun serial! Super clean, supposed to be unfired has a slight ring, barrel and cylinder are spotless. I'll pick it up next week, bought to many guns this month... The one letter is dated 1981

OK, this is serious, I'm suggesting we deploy SWAT

Special

Weapons

Accumulation

Team

for an intervention

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Amazing what some will do to make an extra dollar. Just because they know thereare people likenus who want to preserve one of the last remaining vestiges of true American iingenuity. Be sure to fill us in on her handling. Looks like a really nice service model example from the photo..

I emailed the seller last night, its a gun shop. I'm thinking the boxes prbably got swapped at the original selling dealer or owner since the numbers are so close together. There is also half the warranty card in the box with a different number on it.

It is just recently that having a box made much difference in the price of a dan.  Unfired in the box seems to be a large premium since CZ/DW started selling new 715's for over $1000 (not counting blems). You have a very nice 14-2. A modest cylinder line does not necessarily mean it has been fired outside the factory. I check for scratches on the side plate and marks on the recoil shield when trying to determine how much the gun has been used or played with. .I don't believe the factory cleaned the guns after testing so several cylinders and the barrel may have a little residue. Out of almost two dozen dans only one of mine has no cylinder line and even has cosmoline on the barrel. That gun was pronounced used in the box but unfortunatly the box was not serialed to the gun. However, like you, I have an exceptional gun. Do you store the guns with their boxes in the safe. If so, you my make more room by storing the boxes separate. Or carry the two extra on your person at all times haha. I am just a few guns away from the same problem.

I think someone (Shoot?) can make you an after-market label...

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Dealer said she was pretty sure they sold more than one. Hoping she can get in touch with the other owner, I told her I would swap or buy that gun too.

That's customer service. Good luck. Then you will really need another safe. Oh well, just the cost of DWAS.

I haven't made labels in a long time--but I think I still have my template.... And it is PERFECT match to original ;)

If I can find template, I'll be glad to crank you out a replacement that is correct.

So heres the serial pics, would I be committing a DW travesty if I had a sticker made to match the gun serial? Any way to remove the 0 and installal a 5 in its spot?

I would strategically tear the corner of the label off. Who would ever think that it was not right with five matching numbers. Heck, a jury would convict on less evidence. And you are not doing anything underhand. Just normal wear and tear.
