I see the SuperMags with both slotted and unslotted shrouds. Which is more preferred, and how much of a difference does it make in the selling price?

I would not associate better with either.  It is a preference.  The slotted shrouds were built to keep the revolver under IHMSA weight if I recall correctly.  The slot bears no difference on the performance of the revolver it just changes the appeal and weight of it.  The slotted sometimes sell higher, but that is just my observation.

I have some of both,  slotted look cool but so do heavy lug shrouds.

I don't think it affects the value.

Heavy-slotted is the coolest. Someone here has one.  I've been considering sending my VH8 shrouds for my SM's to Keith to have them converted to VH8S.DW7445V8SC_m.jpgImage Enlarger

I'd really like to have both.  OK, I'll admit it, I'm greedy.

SMF is correct, the slotted shroud was developed to keep the extended-frame .357 Supermag under the 4 pound weight limit that IHMSA had. Dan Wesson even petitioned IHMSA to change the weight limits, but they refused. Personally, I like the slotted shrouds much better, even a 10" one.
