My blued Dan Wesson has small patches of light pitting and surface rust on the cylinder.  It's hard to see because of the gloss of the finish.

Should I use bronze wool with oil and see if that helps?

Thanks in advance,

Kid

A fingernail works great with a bit of oil or Dextron.  I wouldn't go with anything more abrasive unless you intend to re-blue.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I've been told that Balistol does a good job of taking care of minor surface rust. I use it to clean all of my firearms.

I'd have to go with just wiping it down with a bit of oil and see how it looks.  Chances are if they are pits you're still going to see them and it's still going to bother you.  If that's the case the only solution is a reblue with someone competent to do the job.  If you want to do some work yourself, pop the cylinder off and dunk it in a 50/50 mix of muriatic acid and water to take off the bluing.  Take the pits down with a wet/dry paper ending up with a 400-600 finish, and stay off the edges.  Then send it our for rebluing.
