First dumb question or new year? Is there any reason that a barrel out of a 744 stainless could not be used with a blue steel 744 and blue steel shroud?

No problem at all. In fact, that's how my 44 came to me...wearing a stainless barrel.

Nope, now the blue 744 is not a 744 it is just a plain 44. Any models
that are stainless have 7 before the model number but not the blues.
I have a blue 44 and it had a ported stainless barrel and then I bought
a non ported stainless barrel for it.

Yep, a non ported 10" Palmer shroud.

Only the 4, 6 and 8 inch shrouds (and barrels) were ported. The 10 inch shrouds and barrels were not. The extra weight was deemed enough to control muzzle rise.

On the subject of SS barrel in a blue shroud, I think our Header Photo collection includes a blued SM, slotted shroud, with a beautiful "rainbow look" SS barrel. I can't remember whose it is, maybe someone could post it up here?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks to everyone for the heads up. My 44 Dan has a ported barrel and I wont to shoot lead bullets. Thinking stainless would be the way to go. R S
PS I will try to post a picture of it Monday. Proud of this gun as a new father!
