another quik ques....is there any benefit to the slotted barrel shroud? my supermag has the 8 in. vented barrel...is there anybody that could (dependably) do the slotting procedure or is it even possible/beneficial?

I just had 722 and 22 6 and 8 inch slotted by my friend all some needs is milling machine 3/16 ball mill and end mill I where and how long and that was it.

The slotting was done to help the SuperMags meet the weight requirement for IHMSA Silhouette competition. The slots add a unique look, especially if the barrel is a contrasting color. As noted, a good machinist should be able to handle that for you, and dare I suggest EWK?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
