i recently got a 357 Super Mag 740 with two shrouds. It’s a Palmer. One of the shrouds came with a scope mount installed and had no cut out for the front sight. I was just wondering if shrouds produced like this were common?

I was watching that auction, but since we may be going on strike, I passed on it. That is what is known as a hunter pac.
That's how the the scoped barrel is made. Enjoy your purchase. Looked pretty nice.

There was one in every Hunter Pac and those are fairly easily available, but there are definitely more with front sight cutouts than not .. so there you go.

Fixed barrel Hunter Pacs were much less common than the removable barrel variety. They are not all that common at that. Nice pick up!
