Model 22-How old?

I recently bought a Model 22 (Monson manufacture, mid-size .357 frame) for $350.
The serial number is 18XXX. Can anyone tell me please how old it might be?

My Monson .357 has a 17xxx number, and as near as I can tell so far, it was made in 1978. As of yet, we don't have an accurate list of the serial number spread for each given year, but I would think that yours would have been manufactured in '78 or '79.

It's really hard to tell exactly when your 22 was made. The company has been in and out of business a few times and the BATF seizes the records each time. But based on S/N information provided to us from original owners your revolver could date back as far as the mid-70's.
