I just got back my DW 744 from Norwich and one of the repairs was "replaced upper crane leg". What is this? I looked at the schematic and there is no mention of it, but the manual for the large frames says to clean it every 2000 rounds. Any idea on what it is?

I would guess that this is the upper part of the crane that the cylinder rotates on, and that the ejector rod slides through.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I would guess that Steve's guess is right.
It's a good idea to blow your revolver apart now & then for a good scrubbing. There's a lot of gunk that can build up on the crane's shaft, sometimes it will build up so bad that the cylinder will hardly turn. There's a good how-to disassembly tutorial that one of our members wrote here... LINK
