picked up a model 44 w/ 8 inch ported barrel. i decided to try one shot without my earplugs in, just in case i decide to take this deer hunting next season. man, was i surprised.
does the porting make the gun louder?
if i do hunt with it, i will have to sneak my ears on before i take a shot.
on the plus side, as a home defense weapon, if more than one intruder ever entered the house, after the first shot everyone would run...including me.

The loudest part of shooting the DW Power Control ported barrel will be your screams of agony if you don't pull the shroud and barrel apart after every shooting session, and clean it spotless.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

All I know is my non-ported 741 has big bark and the 7445, well everyone on the firing stops and looks.
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?
