There is/ was a Forum created listing of dates per serial number but I don't know how to find it. I do remember approximate dates per serial number. To be C&R it needs to be 50 years old I  believe. That would be born before spring of 1976. Only 38/357 small frame guns would qualify. Around serial number 100,000 or lower. Below 50,000 would be pork chops . That would be late 1974. 22lr debuted in early 1979. I hope this info helps.

Full Serial Number Registry – Dan Wesson Forum

Its only as good as the information submitted and there are many errors but it's as close as you're going to get, these days.  Steve had a better resource but that was lost with his passing, unfortunately.

8,9 (38 Special) , 11 , 12 , 14 , 15 , and the unofficial 14-1 , 15-1 ,and the High Standard Sentinels Mkii and iii are all older than 50 years but I do not know much about C+R laws so we need an expert . Do they automatically qualify?

I just got a HS MKIII and I had it sent thru FFL. My ffl seemed to thinknit required ffl transfer, despite its adequate due to it being a 'modern' firearm.  Whatever that means.
