This is the only thing I can think of that sounds close...
If so, that's what holds the trigger group into the frame. Capt Hank, maybe look at THIS THREAD to see if anything there helps.

OfflineUpdate on my problem in single action mode. Sent it back to Dan Wesson. Gunsmith called and said that it was the hammer. I told him to replace the hammer, replace all springs and adjust the trigger pull to 3 lbs. They also added a 0.004 head space shim. I got the 741 back today. They did an excellent job. The price, $185.95.
I'm a Happy Camper now!
