Hello (again 🙂
A buddy's 44 seems to have a slightly loose cyl lockup. When the hammer is back, or not, how much should the cyl rotate ? It seems to re-center itself after rotating in either direction, but, seems to me I'd rather see it lockup with little to no play at all.
Can the DW factory fix this ? Can I ?

I unlocked the cyl, and it appears the cyl lock is spring loaded in one direction, so, I'm guessing that it's ok for the cyl to rotate a little when moved by hand. Seems Ruger Redhawks I've seen lock up solid and don't roatte a bit, when new or like new I guess.
So maybe I don't need to worry as long as the alignment is correct as I'm told it is. I was told it only has 1-2 boxes of ammo thru it.

Lockup is checked in the fired position. Ensure the revolver is unloaded and then double check. Dry fire in DA and keep the trigger pulled to the rear. With the trigger pulled to the rear, in the fired position, rotational "wiggle" should be negligible. Now, with the trigger still pulled back, look down the barrel (you checked to verify it was unloaded right??). The chamber should be center of the barrel/ vice-versa. If so, no issues.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....
