OfflineSo got my second DW a few months ago in near mint condition, a nice surprise.
Started cleaning the gun and finds that the bluing starts to look odd just over the grip, so I take some CLP on a rag and whip on the tang covered by the grip and yepp the bluing goes from hi glans deep dark to dull gray.
Anyone got this problem before ?
( Pic is altered to make the problem more visible )

OfflineFirst,
to the forum. From Sweden no less. Cool.
My 22 has done the same thing. I had used CLP on it but never attributed the change to it. As Shoot said, it is a somewhat common occurrence. It hasn't gotten any worse since it first appeared. Be very careful if you try to polish it out. I can't remember who, but somebody here tried to polish it out with Flitz. Unfortunately, he went through the bluing and if I remember correctly eventually sent it out to be re-blued. That experience is why I have just left mine alone. Sorry I'm not more help.

OfflineOk, I thought you ment CLP ate the bluing off, nobody has every seen that.
Yes some Dans have the fogging on the side plates, yes you can polish
with Flitz and get some of it off. In fact I got one whole side of a 15 looking
perfect after using Flitz and I went too far on the last little spot on the other.
Believe me it takes quite a bit of rubbing to eat through the bluing so don't
be afraid to do a little Flitz.

OfflineThanks for the welcoming, been lurking for about 2.5 years when i got my first DW.
I only use CLP as a cleaner but not for the dans now.
Going to try Flitz later if i can get a hold of it, the onlyone ho has it here is midway sweden and I refuse to shop there ( a 7,6oz bottle is 60.84$ and he has no stock he orders from US )

never seen that before
. Sorry to hear about the blueing problem. It sounds odd. I wonder if the previous owner may have done some type of dye job to make it sell better. Just a guess on my part.
