Just took delivery of a High Standard Sentinel Mk II in decent shape.
I had a Mk III a few years ago but also 2 S&Ws 357s (66-2 abd 28-2) and thought the "Dan Wesson" was one too many.
I was wrong and when I saw one on gunbroker for a good price I bid and won. ($346.00. I think I did OK)
So I know the Mk. II is a Dan Wesson Model 14 and I believe it is completely compatible in terms of all the mechanics and all the pieces are interchangeable (Right??)
I've got to take it down and clean it up but timing is good, no shake or shimmey, and a bit of Mothers will clean up the frame and barrel.
It's got a 3 3/4" barrel and it looks to be one I can remove if I want to change it, which I probably won't; unless I'd consider a 2" or so tube to make it a 'snubbie," but a heavy one I should think.
But if I should want to change barrels can anyone give me an aprox. price for say a 2" and 6"? And what does the removal tool go for? I'll be looking at ebay and here I should think and would like to know a fair price.
Al;s wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a decent OWB holster. Don't need fancy or expensive, just something practicable and economical.
I'll be at the range this weekend and hope to do a bit of a range report.

A common affliction called Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome or DWAS. It is incurable but can be put into remission (mostly when you run out of money).
Ole Dog will come along and answer your questions.

Here I am. Okay, definately you need a tool. To clean your gun properly and to make sure the barrel gap is correct and to your liking. Point 006 on the proudest cylinder is a bit excessive. When tightening the barrel nut, snug is good. Don't over tighten. Keep a finger on the forcing cone to prevent the barrel from turning while you snug it. The flat one piece tool is age appropriate but some folks don't like them. Plastic tools tend to break, mostly from overtightening. I like the steel tool with crossbar that replaced the plastic one. EWK tools are okay but you need wrenches.
Yes, most parts are interchangable with other porkchops except for the shrouds. There are models 14 and 15 and then what are called 14-1 and 15-1. The later are High Standard models. The rear sights are different so the front sights of the 14 and 15 will not shoot to point of aim. Rear sights of the dash one(mkii and mkiii) are lower so you need the corresponding shroud or your gun will shoot low. Also the 14 and 15 shrouds have different front sights. Gotta get the exact right model. High Standard cataloged Pistol packs and extra BAs but never sold any. It is very hard to find HS Barrel Assemblies. Fortunately, DW 14-1 will work.
Prices for BAs are all over the place. Anything over $250 is probably too much. except for a HS. Be careful not to buy an 11 or 12 BA. They have the exterior nut and the barrel tube is 1/4" longer. Also the front and rear sights are different heights also. Cheapest tools will be EWK. All factory tools are usually over priced. Probably you can get one from the factory cheaper than eBay. Any Holster for a Colt Python will fit a DW small frame.
If you can't find the BAs you want I might be able to fix you up.
