OfflineHi, I'm just getting back into DW guns. Had a pack in the late 80's and I'm trying to complete a pack now missing some stuff. QUESTION: I just bought a 15-2 on line and received it today and was disappointed to see the 4" barrel had non-interchangable sites. The rear site on the gun in adjustable.....so.....it must be a 15-2...but what's the deal on the barrel site? Could this barrel be from a model 14? Thanks.

OfflineWelcome to the site and congrats on your new purchase. I am not real certain about the 14 and 14-2 models... as I tend to stick to my 15-2. I does sound like you have a model 14 barrel. A picture would help in identifing the issue greatly. ( plus we love pics)

OfflineI just picked up another 15-2 myself with a 6" V. The front sight is the same as you pictured. My thought was that is was a barrel off of a 14-2 but my serial number is 5751X so from the registry it's pretty early.
I am interested to see what this turns out to be.

OfflineWelcome to DWF. That is a pretty early pinned sight shroud. It is possible that EWK Arms could adapt that for you, it would involve some machining and drill/tap, I think.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

OfflineYep, what Steve said. The first 15-2 models used the same style of pinned front sights found on the 15-1 Porkchops. As of 4/1/76, the new interchangeable were standard issue on all DW's from that day forward.
Here it is in back-n-white... Copy the pic & open in a new window for full size.

The pinned front sight 15-2's are relatively rare, IMO. If & when DW's really hit it off with serious collectors, I can only imagine that these limited few will command bigger bux than their interchangeable counterparts.

Just CF's Tuesday evening opinion.

OfflineGreat info, and good question. You guys are fantastic. The serial number of the gun is 12150x. If I am understanding this info correctly...this barrel was not originally with this gun. What to do..what to do. Hate to return the gun...already jumped thru NY State hoops to get it. Maybe I should list the barrel and look for the correct one with interchangable sights. Notice how I learned how to spell "sights"? Someone tell me how to spell interchangable.

I agree, your gun's s/n should be firmly in the later interchangeable sight range. I've been watching the 15-2 s/n's for a while, and the earliest interchangeable sight s/n I've got record of is #71530. I would bet that somewhere along the line, a previous owner (or gun shop) did a barrel swap on your gun. Not that this will affect the gun's performance one bit.
If it were me, I'd try to find a correct barrel assembly (BA) & sell your current one to someone who may need a pinned sight BA to complete a Pac set. But that's just me.
 But that's just me.

Offlineerrr....
the obvious.. no-one says you can't have more than one barrel.. they do get lonely. 3 DW 15-2 and 7 barrels. just sayin'. Try Gunbroker.. or if Eric wakes up from hibernation.. maybe we'll have some NEW BA's to play with!
